The Bophadiphadi Jewellery Project was established in 2008 as a development funded by Xstrata Alloys. It is a registered co-operative company with 5 participants. The project received support and is facilitated by the Mine; the trainer, Kgabane, being from Mintek.
One of the reasons to start this project was to create jewellery which reflects the Bakwena culture, look and feel. The items are top quality products for sales in particular to the tourist visitors in the North West and upper middle class consumers. Achieving this will secure a livelihood for the business members and will assist to develop the communities.

Our vision is to become the leading Supplier of high quality, hand-made African chic jewellery in the North West Province and thus ensure economical growth and independence.
Mission
To provide a range of predominantly hand-made African chic jewellery that reflects the Bakwena culture.
Objectives
Our objectives are as follows:
• To provide the international visitors with a unique opportunity to buy a "piece of Africa".
• To ensure items in the range are of utmost quality, have a good availability and sell at competitive prices.
• Manage the business effectively by incorporating ancient, indigenous jewellery-making skills with modern technology and techniques.
• To market the Bophadiphadi Jewellery Project aggressively.
• To create jobs, skills development and alleviate poverty in the community.
